BEAM CLUB from UCLA

Glenwood has teamed up with BEAM from UCLA! What is BEAM? Building Engineers and Mentors (BEAM) at UCLA was created to help teach weekly hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) lessons to low income students and historically underrepresented groups to help make the future of STEM more diverse. The hope is that by providing engaging lessons on a regular basis we can increase students’ interest and confidence in STEM. Glenwood 4th & 5th grade students are participating in lessons conducted after school on Fridays from 3-4pm for 6-7 weeks. Students are given supplies to conduct exploratory hands-on activities focusing on explorative learning. The students are closely supervised by UCLA mentors and our Glenwood teachers. Students are prompted with questions to help promote their curiosity and discovery throughout the different STEM lessons! BEAM at Glenwood Rocks!
